Types of Meets and Races Supported

SFS Distance Carnival (2012): Start of Womens 3000S

We support many types of meet or race formats:

Cross Country (Pre-registration)

  • Registration is completed 72 hours before race day
  • Races are seeded at the start line just before the race is run
  • Results and scoring are produced rapidly with the IPICO chip timing system and RunScore or HyTek Meet Manager

Road races

  • Registration is completed 48 hours before race day and same day registrations are accepted up until the 30 minutes before the start of the event
  • Race results can be grouped by age, gender, or other classification depending on race director's need.
  • Results are produced rapidly with the IPICO chip timing system and RunScore.
  • Backup timing using FinishLynx and IdentiLynx

All-Comers Track and Field (No pre-registration is desired or possible)

  • Registration on meet day
  • Seeding completed at the start line moments before the events are run

Structured Invitational (where split times are desired and display boards are used to report start lists and individual results)

  • Registration is completed 48 hours before meet day
  • Running event sections and field event flights are formed
  • Clerk sets heat as presented in heat sheets
  • Field event judges record athlete performances on provided score sheets
  • Very limited substitution is allowed

Unstructured Invitational Format (where competition between athletes is emphasized)

  • Registration is completed 48 hours before meet day
  • Running event sections and field event flights are formed
  • Clerks set heat as presented in heat sheets but are given the flexibility to pack and combine heats without changing start lists in HyTek MM and FinishLynx. Clerks do not even have to inform the timers.
  • Field event judges record athlete performances on provided score sheets

Championship, League, or Multi-event Meet Format

  • These events are typically multi-day events or events that may have trials and finals.
  • Registration is completed 48 hours before meet day
  • Running event sections and field event flights are formed
  • Clerk sets heat as presented in heat sheets but is given the flexibility to substitute athletes on a limited basis

For each of these formats we train clerks, start line crew, and finish line crews to provide the information we need to avoid delays and minimize reporting errors.
